Summoning Stricture

Who: Nathaniel & open
What:considering the nature of power Trying to do the job
When: first weeks of August
Where: around most of the
Warnings: tba if needed
Nathaniel has never broken the law, not by the (perhaps questionably) strict definition of his world. A Magician who comes out ahead - and has the favorable eye of the Prime Minister, hasn't done anything wrong. Only people without power or influence have to deal with charges for things like theft, murder, or massive property destruction. And, besides, they're often not the ones technically doing such things. The Judge probably didn't take into account the likelihood of him managing to move an oar and whether or not that would just take him out, though it probably would.
He certainly prefers to be an Advocate over a Prisoner, and feels that it's a far more accurate placement, but that doesn't mean he particularly wants to be an Advocate. There's power in the role, yes, and he has no problem with people being punished strictly. But it's not the type of power he's spent years seeking, not the sort that will change the world. Especially as the best he gets is getting to go home. But he does want to go home, and he knows how to do a job that will get him closer to what he wants.
He avoids the oar banks, for reasons he doesn't feel a need to think about, but otherwise can be found most places. He reports troublemakers, if he has evidence enough that not reporting it would be more trouble - any reluctance there less on behalf on the prisoner and more discomfort with the Judge. He continues to work his way through the scanty number of books that showed up with him, checking in with the infirmary to see if there's anything more to study with. He has no interest in 'sports', but does enjoy a good game of chess in the yard, when he can find one.
He wouldn't say that he's looking for anyone from the Barge, but he can acknowledge that certain faces are - familiar.
