Prison Riot/Mutiny Plot - OTA
Who: James Flint
therebedragons and YOU!
Where: All over the Galley
When: First half of August
Warnings: (if necessary) Violence, gore, murder, death, destruction, adult language. The general themes of the Galley. Expect this to get ugly.
Preamble
Give’em Hell
The last thing he remembered whispered in the Admirals voice as if he stood just behind him and spoke it in his ear. Then everything went white, blinding, the world spinning into nothing and he woke up in a cell, alone. Four tight walls of white and the high-backed chair from his cabin. No door, no windows, just the white, featureless walls, nothing, save that familiar chair. Panic, fear, and rage, all bubbled up at the situation. He places his hands along the walls, searching for a seam, for anything. He pounds his fists and he yells, screams profanities and threats, barking out orders in vain. He starts calling out one name - Raylan - in hopes he might hear him. Nothing. But that doesn't deter him, he'll call into the void "I WILL FIND YOU"
Then the voices speak up but their message isn’t helpful, it doesn’t assuage his feelings. He makes more demands, more threats until his voice is cracking and raw. Then it’s nothing but mad, animalistic sounds and he picks up his chair and he throws it against the wall, he picks up the pieces and he smashes them until there’s nothing left but fragments.
Then he crumbles and he breaks, pulling himself into a corner when all of his rage is exhausted and all that’s left is sorrow, fear, and defeat. He draws his knees up to his chest and buries his face into his arms as he sobs, pulling at his hair and cradling his head to hide his sorrow and draw in as small as possible.
When he wakes up he’s laying on a cot, staring up at a blank ceiling with the sounds of the prison Galley as any kind of orientation. He sits up and looks at his cell, his barred room with one big glass wall that he can’t see through. Someone could be watching him. He has a basic toilet, a bolted-down table with a few books, and not much else. He goes to the bars of his cell and looks out at the prisoner's cabins. Letting the weight of his situation sink in.
I. THE FIRST WEEK
If he were honest with himself, Flint is only marginally adjusting well. He’s pissed, but he’s not stupid. So he tries to be strategic, learns what he can about the Galley, who to talk to, and overall how to survive. He's also looking for Raylan, asking any of the folks he recognizes from the Barge about him. He's more careful about people he doesn't know, he doesn't want anything to happen to Raylan because he's looking for him. Part of him hopes to find him, and the other part of him hopes he isn't here and isn't suffering in this place. He doesn't deserve this.
He makes himself a target by asking questions. His first Advocate doesn’t give a fuck and Flint gets into a number of scuffles over gathering information and fitting himself into the hierarchy. His charisma and charm, or threats of violence only get him so far until he actually murders someone. That someone happens to be his Advocate, but it makes a statement, even if he ends up losing his left hand and left eye within the first few days of arrival.
But it gives him perspective. He meets the Judge, even if she’s not present. He sees how things are done. He’s given another Advocate, a better Advocate that he manages to sway to his side. They help him. And the next fucker who thinks they can take advantage of Flint ends up dead, but his Advocate and some of his allies cover it up and he gets away with it. There’s not enough evidence to pin on him after all. He’s an old man with one hand and one eye. How could he possibly have killed someone after the trauma he’d suffered?
Throughout the first week and into the next he’ll be biding his time on The Oars, while they’re unsupervised to make a plan and gather more allies. He makes up a way to speak to one another, a code. They pass information at the oars or on the yard, at mess and hidden in books passed around for inmates to entertain themselves. If you want to find Flint and talk to him, it’s not hard and his army is growing.
II. THE SECOND WEEK
A few days into the second week the Galley is on edge, there’s a tension mounting and a violent energy makes the air almost palpable. It’s nearly time, every cog is turning, and every trap is set. It only takes a whisper for him to set his plan in motion. He has spies, advocates, and prisoners on his side, assassins, and thieves, and covert operatives to get into spaces and get to people that stand in their way. More and more people start to die, pawns being shuffled and moved on his giant chess board. Fights break out, but the evidence is hard to come by, his men are protected by the letter of the law and the fine lines between which they can exploit. So they thin down the Judge’s loyal masses. She has to know they’re coming, but she can’t catch them. His group is too clever, too prepared in only just a week's time.
But nothing is perfect.
By the end of the second week, that’s when the fun will kick off. Until then they bide their time and set their knights and bishops in place. Flint will be pulling the strings from behind the scenes, but he trusts his network of people to do what is necessary.
He can be found in The Yard or at his Cabin with his Advocate as a guard, but it all may as well be his office now.
III. PRISON RIOT/MUTINY
It all kicks off with a bang, somehow, somewhere, something is exploding and there’s an annoying voice over the communication systems to lead people on a wild goose chase. That’s when the prisoners can strike, take out advocates and steal their shields, take their weapons, and find more. It’s not long before it’s an all-out war and riot. And while that is happening Flint and his vanguard -his hand-selected allies- are searching for the Judge. He has teams spread out to any and all places they suspect she could be hiding or commanding from. They are also looking for a way into the wheel or the engine of the Galley, they need to commandeer the vessel somehow. Even if the Judge isn’t there, maybe if they can successfully take the Galley, that’ll get her attention and draw her out.
PRISONERS
Prisoner Plotting Here
Overall, if you are someone from The Barge Flint will seek you out directly to speak with you and try to convince you to join him in any way he can. He will talk about getting their friends back somehow and trying to fix all of this. The Admiral told them to give’em hell and he plans to.
>For his plan? He will need a Vanguard and he will try to hand select those he trusts the most so his closest CR on the Galley will be first, but if your character or you think your character would be loyal and fitting to join his Vanguard we can discuss!!
>Spies and stealthy types, he needs you for gathering information so that he can form his plan and know how to move. He may or may not need to you to end up assassinating some folks, but he won’t force you to do it. As long as he has a few willing to do the job.
> Techno-savvy folks, he’ll definitely need you to help with teaching him about the ship, the weaponry, the defenses, everything. You will be key to helping him figure out the best moves.
>Anything else your character can do? Great! Hit me up on the plotting post that will be linked below and let's talk.
>Planning to work against or thwart him? Perfect! Please plot with me and others!
Big themes are FREEDOM from their oppressors and getting everyone HOME or back to their friends at the Barge in some way. Otherwise, Flint will say whatever he needs to say, promise whatever he has to to get your character on board.
ADVOCATES
Advocate Plotting Here
Advocates will absolutely be a big help, and as said above with the Prisoners he will be looking for any of you that were onThe Barge initially to try and convince you of his plan and to join his side. He will do and say anything he can to convince you this is the best thing to do, especially if you were from the Barge. He wants to find the rest of their people and get everyone back. He wants to free everyone and get them all back together again. Anything else they can figure out once they’re all back.
>They need loyal Advocates willing to cover their tracks, and their asses if they’re caught, to work the system and keep them all alive. They need help getting into places where a prisoner would otherwise not be able to go. And to help overtake other Advocates to take their shields and weapons.
>Of course all the above things in the Prisoners applies to the Advocates as well. Anything and everything your character can offer, please let me know and let's plot!
>Working against Flint and his band? Great! Let's discuss.
Big themes for Advocates will be working out a way to get their DEALS if they can get back to the Barge, maybe if they help the Admiral, or find someone with the same power to grant them their Deal. He promises they will find some way to get them what they want. Otherwise, they can offer FREEDOM and to get back HOME. Flint will say anything and promise anything he has to.
OTHER?
Yours wants out entirely? That’s fine, they will give an ultimatum to join or die, but if your character doesn’t cause problems they will just lock them up. They will really only kill or attack someone that is going to stand in their way. So if your character strategically gets the fuck out of their way and doesn’t do anything to hinder the plan they will be left alone. That way, even if they’re not allies now, maybe they will be later when it all dies down. After all, they spared their lives, didn’t they?
Something else? Reach out to me and lets discuss!
This is the bare bones start of the log for this event, and I will edit and add as things develop or progress. Treat this like a mingle! But as a note, I ultimately expect Flint to fail and be Executed.
